Hitachi Rail is leveraging Google Cloud’s cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to accelerate digital transformation, driving innovation, enhancing operational productivity, and advancing the rail sector’s transition toward autonomous, sustainable mobility.

The collaboration aligns with Hitachi Rail’s vision, which sees the convergence of digital and energy transitions as a pivotal opportunity to drive a modal shift toward rail and strengthen global leadership.

This technical partnership expands on the strategic alliance between Hitachi and Google Cloud, announced in October 2025, aimed at accelerating enterprise innovation through generative AI and agentic AI.

Hitachi Rail accelerates digital transformation for sustainability

The collaboration is focused on deploying Google’s leading c loud, cybersecurity and generative AI capabilities, such as Google Cloud ’s Vertex AI platform, to address Hitachi’s ambition to lead the digital transformation of critical industries such as rail through physical AI. 

“Sustainability is the destination – digital is how we’ll get there,” said Giuseppe Marino, CEO of Hitachi Rail Group. “Our collaboration with Google Cloud will enable us to harness their leadership in digital and AI technologies to meet our strong ambitions regarding digital transformation in rail and develop for our customers optimized and energy-efficient solutions.
