Is there a methodology out there that can produce a better understanding of problem analysis? Proponents of the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving, or TRIZ, claim that this Soviet-born tool allows organizations to get to the root of their problems much sooner and produces quicker results. Tom Kling, Master Black Belt for the Dow Chemical Company, agrees. An old joke states that for improvement you can have things "better, faster, cheaper," but you can only pick two. When it comes to using TRIZ, Kling claims: You can have all three.
