Why Do Businesses Exist? The Reasons According to Peter Drucker

Add bookmark

What is the point of a business? The answer to that was relatively straightforward for Dr. Peter Drucker, a hugely influential theorist, professor, consultant and social scientist: businesses exist to create a customer. Departing from that simple principle Dr. Drucker's works spanned decades of major demographic, technological and economic change. In this Profit through Process podcast, Dr. Robert Swaim, a colleague and personal friend of Drucker’s for nearly thirty years and author of The Strategic Drucker: Growth Strategies and Marketing Insights from the Works of Peter Drucker, discusses how Drucker's concepts remain relevant today, why Drucker became disillusioned with corporate America towards the end of his life and what Drucker would have thought about the behaviour of companies in the lead up to the financial crisis.

Dr. Swaim is also PexNetwork's latest columnist -read his first article on Drucker's Principle's of Innovation.
