Process frameworks provide a common language and approach for companies to compare processes, functions and activities to allow for a host of activites like benchmarking, standardization, and governance.

APQC, an organization that provides best practice and benchmarking information, has one of the world's most utlized frameworks, the Process Classification Framework.
