Many hospitals and other healthcare organizations are using Lean Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement, but very few have adopted Business Process Management or BPM. Could that be about to change?

A Canadian hospital has been pioneering the use of BPM technology to improve patient care, combining improved processes with new mobile platforms such a ipads. In this Process Perspectives interview, Cameron Keyes, Director of "Care Process Management" (the hospital's term for Business Process Management) at Ottawa Hospital, discusses how his hospital has been piloting a patient-centred approach to BPM and describes the early successes to date.
