Winner for Best Project Under 90 Days

In 2011, UNIB3 ABC - one of Brazilian petrochemical company Braskem's chemical manufacturing plants - was faced with a happy dilemna: how to increase production capacity to take advantage of growing opportunity in foreign markets. In light of growing opportunity in foreign markets production targets for the plant was set 20% above the historical record - a gap that the Six Sigma teams would have to close if the plant was to hit its production targets for the year.

In this downloadable presentation, the Six Sigma team from Braskem describes a short project that they undertook in order to increase plant production capacity including Six Sigma analysis - process map, fishbone diagram, Cause X Effect, Effort X Impact diagram - as well as Lean tools such as 5S and visual controls to help make better use of field operators' activities.
