If you are curious to hear more about IQPC’s 11th Process Excellence Awards before winners are announced in January, then listen to this Six Sigma IQ podcast. Genna Weiss of Six Sigma IQ speaks with three Process Excellence Awards judges: Mark Fendley, Continuous Improvement Manager Value and Added Production System Leader for BMW Manufacturing; John Murphy, Assistant Vice President Operational Excellence for CSX Transportation; and Steven Degnan-Schmidt, Six Sigma Deployment Director for Allstate, who discuss what stood out this year.

The judges reveal some of the interesting trends that emerged out of the award entrants compared to last year’s, which included a 50 percent increase in the number of applicants for the Best Improvement Program category, and a broadened spread of companies that have entered the Process Excellence awards, with industries ranging from insurance, consultancies and military. You will hear about IQPC’s newest category, the Best Green Improvement Project, and how category’s applicants shared the common thread of tying their green initiatives to bottom-line financial improvement.

[inlinead]All three judges also reflect on how these companies and Process Excellence individuals can teach your organization how to handle Lean Six Sigma and Process Excellence during an economic downturn. In addition, Fendley, Murphy and Degnan-Schmidt give advice for finalists in the next round of the Awards and impart best practice tips for Lean Six Sigma and Process Excellence organizations to follow in 2010.
