Waste has no constituency, says Mike George, a retired consultant and director of a group campaigning for the use of Lean Six Sigma in government services to cut the deficit. His group Strong America Now recently got Republican politician Newt Gingrich on board its campaign, while another Republican contender – and presidential nominee hopeful - Tim Pawlenty is a strong supporter of Six Sigma methodologies.

In this Process Perspectives podcast, George argues the case for making greater use of Lean Six Sigma in government and cites success stories in the US military and US healthcare. George also says that he thinks it’s only a matter of time before all politicians sign up to the process improvement method of government debt reduction – and even suggests it’s time for a Six Sigma President.
