PEX Talks | Digital twins: Double trouble or dynamic duo?
How to build safe, accurate digital twins that deliver tangible value
Join the conversation to discuss the benefits and challenges associated with digital twin technology
Digital twins have been hyped as the next big thing in process excellence for years. Now, thanks to advancements in AI, data processing and IoT, the dream of digital twins is now becoming reality.
The ways in which commercial, academic and governmental organizations are using digital twins are truly remarkable. City planners, for example, are using digital twins to analyze and solve urban problems such as traffic, pollution and overcrowding. In life sciences, researchers are using digital twins to study diseases and develop cutting-edge treatments. Digital twins are becoming so popular that the industry is expected to reach US$125.7bn by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 39 percent from 2021.
Digital twins, however, require massive amounts of high quality data and extensive computing resources. In addition, they also pose numerous cybersecurity and ethical challenges. Should the data used to create digital twins be compromised in some way, whether maliciously or not, it could have catastrophic results.
In the 5th iteration of our PEX Talks series, we will look at the promise and the perils of digital twins. Key discussion points will include:
- Why is digital twin technology such a game changer and how are organizations using it to reinvent themselves for the digital age?
- How do you avoid building an evil twin by ensuring data is ethically used and protected?
- Are digital twins worth the investment?
