Mahesh Vinayagam, representing the Arizona chapter of the Association of Enterprise Architects, and Tony Bjerstedt, representing the organization’s Minnesota chapter, held an optimistic panel discussion at PEX Live: Enterprise Architecture 2022. Both speakers recommended a strategic, considered approach to digital transformation to make the most of what Vinayagam described as “the phenomenal opportunities” available to organizations.

Vinayagam said that since the Covid-19 pandemic, investment in IT has increased and digital transformation has been “turbo-charged”, noting that AI, cloud technology and data analytics in particular have been attracting attention and investment. With an increasingly crowded market of technology solutions, Vinayagam remarked that it was important to plan well and determine exactly what IT investment is needed.

Bjerstedt cautioned that responsibilities surrounding cyber security needed to be taken into account during digital transformation projects given that increased regulations demand greater compliance. He said that it was appropriate to determine who was responsible for security, posing the question of whether it should be a shared responsibility or down to an individual.
