AVP Process Reengineering, Business Insurance Operations Travelers
Michael Stober

Michael Stober has spent more than 25 years redesigning operating models across some of the most complex organizations in their industries — through mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures at The Hartford, Aetna, Anthem, Citizens Bank, StanleyWorks, and Travelers. Today, as an Executive Operating Model Redesign Leader at Travelers, he leads the operating model redesign powering AI transformation within business insurance — translating emerging automation into operating models that work at scale, integrating people, process, technology, and structure — in environments where the stakes are high and the legacy runs deep. He is known for cutting through theory and building operating models that hold. Michael's view on AI transformation is direct: most organizations treat it as a technology problem and wonder why it doesn't stick. The work that actually matters is twofold — rigorous design and delivery of the transformation itself, and the harder, slower work of shifting how an organization thinks, decides, and executes. A new operating model without new ways of working produces the same outcomes held together by different scaffolding. The cultural transformation is not a change management workstream. It is the transformation.

Tuesday, Jan 26: Agentic AI Transformation Day 1

12:00 PM BUILDING A ONE-TEAM, AGENTIC ENTERPRISE: HOW TRAVELERS IS RE ARCHITECTING BUSINESS INSURANCE AT SCALE

What does it look like to rebuild an operating model around Agentic capabilities at true enterprise scale? Travelers' Business Insurance group is answering that exact question. With 14 diverse business units that have historically operated like separate companies, Travelers set a bold mission: "one customer, one team." Backed by strong executive sponsorship, a multidisciplinary team of process, org design, technology, and architecture leaders locked in together for eight months to design a future-state Agentic operating model and are now rapidly building it for launch. Join this session to hear how they have:

• Tackled deep structural and cultural silos across people, process, technology, and structure

• Designed Agentic and human-in-the-loop workflows and the new workforce, skills, and team structures required

• Built a horizontal data and analytics layer to measure performance across the entire operating model

• Started from four clear outcome metrics and designed everything around them

• Executed this transformation without major consulting firms, using largely internal talent and proprietary build
