Northeast Grocery taps DXC to drive digital transformation

Michael Hill | 08/13/2025

Northeast Grocery has collaborated with DXC Technology to drive digital transformation and generate US$40 million in savings over five years. Through the partnership, DXC led the modernization of Northeast Grocery’s IT infrastructure, setting the stage for future innovation.

Northeast Grocery is the parent company that operates the Price Chopper, Market 32 and Tops Friendly Markets supermarket chains. The company has nearly 300 stores in the northeast US.

Northeast Grocery optimize operations through transformation

Since 2008, DXC has supported Tops through many milestones of growth and evolution. This includes the 2021 merger between Market 32 and Price Chopper and Tops. Northeast Grocery sought to create operational efficiencies through the consolidation of its IT infrastructures and selected DXC to lead this business transformation, helping to optimize its operations, simplify complexities and accelerate its roadmap for innovation, including leveraging generative artificial intelligence (AI), according to a press release.

DXC provides end-to-end support to Northeast Grocery, helping optimize operations and maximize the value of IT investments. Recently, this included modernizing its mainframe with a zLinux environment to boost compute capacity. These upgrades enable Northeast Grocery to focus on growth, innovation and enhancing customer experience.

DXC also delivers managed services for software engineering, IT operations, device management and workplace collaboration across the organization.

DXC is committed to helping customers maximize the value of their technology investments and build for the future, said Chris Drumgoole, president, global infrastructure services at DXC. “By modernizing Northeast Grocery’s IT infrastructure, we’ve helped deliver significant cost savings and greater operational efficiency, allowing them to reinvest in stores, customer experience and future innovation.
