Leading UK supermarket chain Morrisons is boosting digital transformation through an “automation-first” approach in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
As part of an expanded collaboration, TCS will help align operations across key business functions including retail, e-commerce, and marketing.
The engagement is focused on helping Morrisons advance its strategic priorities by enhancing operational efficiency, transforming its loyalty program, improving customer experience, and capturing greater market share, according to the announcement.
The new scope builds on the success of ongoing digital transformation initiatives between the two organizations.
Morrisons accelerates digital transformation
TCS will drive the initiative by delivering comprehensive engineering services including application design, development, testing, and maintenance while modernizing legacy platforms and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) powered solutions to enhance service outcomes, stated a press release.
Additionally, TCS will establish an automation factory and a business intelligence command center (BICC) to provide a 360-degree operational view, enable proactive issue resolution, and foster data-driven decision-making.
The enhancements aim to minimize service disruptions, reduce manual interventions and response times, and deliver a more seamless and engaging shopping experience. TCS will also lead the transformation of Morrisons’ digital platforms across loyalty, marketing, e-commerce, and retail, supporting the grocer’s renewed operating model through AI, automation, and software engineering excellence.
This transformation will enable faster delivery of digital products and industry-leading retail solutions. As a result, Morrisons has consolidated its vendor base and strengthened synergy across business functions.
