Wiltshire Police earns global recognition for excellence in RPA

Michael Hill | 05/14/2025

Wiltshire Police’s ICT robotic delivery team has received international recognition for its pioneering use of robotic process automation (RPA).

The team was named the winner in the Rising Star category at the SS&C Blue Prism Customer Excellence Awards held in New York.

The award celebrates emerging leaders in intelligent automation and recognizes organizations that are using RPA to deliver innovation, impact and operational efficiency.

Wiltshire Police demonstrates excellence in robotic process automation

Under the leadership of Mark Levitt, head of ICT and Lynsay Birkett, robotic delivery manager the team has successfully implemented 25 automated processes using RPA, transforming how the force delivers services and supports frontline policing.

“This well-deserved award reflects the transformative work carried out by the team in this area,” said John Derryman, chief of corporate services. By embracing developments in automation, Wiltshire Police’s robotics team has been able to free up time for colleagues to focus on supporting frontline policing, he added.

“On behalf of the whole of Wiltshire Police, I heartily congratulate all those who have contributed towards this incredible achievement which will enable us to provide a better and more efficient service for the communities we serve.”

Further recognition was given to Rhys Hagen, who was named a regional runner-up in the prestigious Builder of the Year category, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to the success of the program.

Setting a national benchmark for intelligent automation

Wiltshire Police is setting a national benchmark for intelligent automation, saving £1.11 million (more than US$1.3 million) in the first year and freeing up 27.6 full-time officers to focus on frontline policing, the judging panel remarked.

“They’ve scaled at record pace, achieving full return on investment (ROI) in just six months. Their strong governance, use of Blue Prism’s ROM2 and collaboration across UK forces are enabling sustainable transformation, better data quality and improved public service.”

Organizations are increasingly turning to intelligent automation solutions that embrace a holistic approach to automation. The intelligent process automation market is predicted to be worth a staggering $45 billion by 2032, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 0.146 over the next seven years.

“These tools are making automation more accessible to both technical and non-technical users, aligning with the principles of alignment, clarity and transparency (ACT) to ensure everyone involved has a clear understanding of the process and outcomes,” said Doug Shannon, global intelligent automation thought leader and PEX Network Advisory Board member.
