Keys to addressing the challenge of knowledge worker productivity

Getting to the root causes of productivity loss

Today, more than a half-century after Drucker first coined the phrase "knowledge worker" (in 1959) the share of the workforce represented by this group has grown considerably to as much as half of all workers by some measures. So too have grown investments targeting knowlege worker productivity. Yet despite this, we remain far from realizing the level of improvement seen in manual labor over the course of the last century.

This whitepaper, authored by the Delphi Group, explores why increasing the productivity of knowlege workers is so difficult, explores the root cause of productivity loss among knowledge workers and looks at different ways of tackling the challenges particular to unstructured processes.
