Process automation offers opportunities for efficiency and cost saving, but beginning a new project can be daunting: if you have seen your share of 'failing to plan is planning to fail' scenarios, the first step on a journey full of unknowns will be the most difficult.
Jim Smith, Senior Product Analyst at FlowForma, says that the best people to involve in process automation are those who truly understand the process, rather than those with the best IT skills. "Clients have an understandable fear of new software," he says. "But when it comes to building your first processes, your level of IT skill has no impact on what can be achieved."
Success, Smith says, is the end result of process knowledge and guided creativity in mapping and automating it.
