Vice President, Process Excellence Leader Liberty Mutual Insurance

Steven is responsible for the global Operational Excellence journey for the commercial lines of business at Liberty Mutual Insurance. He leads a team with deep expertise in Operational Excellence principles, practices and tools critical in ensuring that improvement efforts are aligned to strategy and lead to sustainable, repeatable and predictable results. He joined Liberty Mutual as part of the Liberty Management System transformation and has supported Commercial Insurance, Personal Insurance, Corporate Finance, Talent, Investments, Legal, Actuarial, and Technology. Steven began his Operational Excellence journey over 25 years ago in manufacturing at a global Fortune 100 Corporation where he was one of the first certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belts. He held various positions in operations, maintenance, quality, and Six Sigma. From there he transitioned to the Financial Services industry where he held various roles in strategy, analysis, finance, risk management, operations, and Operational Excellence. Steven holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Richmond. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Agile Scrum Master, and Hay Group Executive Coach. He has also completed the Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy program at MIT Sloan School of Management.
