12:30 pm - 1:00 pm Case study: How Serco used Operational Excellence during the Covid-19 pandemic to help maintain critical public services

During March 2020, the Serco Operational Excellence (OE) team were assigned to support the Serco Covid-19 crisis management team to help maintain critical public services at the height of the pandemic. The OE team used a range of process improvement techniques to support various crisis management workstreams; co-designed the virtual operations control centre at Covid-19 drive through test centres, supported lead time reduction for training new joiners to rapidly recruit employees to respond increase service demand, PPE demand forecasting across all Serco Business Units, hospital resource forecasting based on Covid-19 growth curves and levelling demand of scrubs garments to support Health employees. The presentation will briefly cover each of these case studies to demonstrate how Serco utilised OE to help maintain critical public services during the Covid-19 pandemic.
