I was born in Ecuador the daughter of two Spanish speaking parents Estuardo and Orfelina Hernandez. My four sisters and I came to the US in the late 70s with my parents, and we attended elementary school, high school and college in New York City. I graduated from the school of business at Baruch College with a Marketing Management degree, and held several jobs in this field and in technology after graduation, until I was introduced to the Six Sigma methodology in 2002 at American Express. At that company I received formal training as a Green Belt and became certified the same year, and it was then when I realized that I wanted to pursue a career in Six Sigma.
It was not until the beginning of 2010 when I started working for Emblem Health Services Company in the Business Transformation Department, where I started to apply Six Sigma methodology in my projects, and also received formal training in Six Sigma Black Belt methodology at BMGI Company. I became Black Belt certified on August 2011 which was a pre-requisite for employment in my current role and am currently pursuing Master Black Belt Certification.
