Government organizations don’t often have a reputation for cutting edge efficiency. But two Australian government agencies – Worksafe Victoria and the Transport Accident Commission – set out to change that for one process at least: improving the process of paying suppliers.

In close collaboration with IT, the business embarked on a transformation to reduce the amount of manual input and paper handling in order to improve the timeliness of payment to the agency’s suppliers. Using IBM’s IBM’s Business Rule Management System (BRMS) for process automation, WorkSafe Victoria was able to input and process invoices up to three times faster.

In this short video, representatives from WorkSafe Victoria and the Transport Accident Commission discuss the project and detail how business ownership of the project was one of the keys to success.
