London and New York – 30 March 2011: The Carphone Warehouse Ltd "CPW" (part of Best Buy Europe Group), Europe’s leading independent retailer of mobile phones and services is one of five winners of the 2011 Gartner Business Process Management (BPM) Excellence Award. Selected by a review team from the Gartner analyst community, winners must have clearly demonstrated compelling business results achieved through business process management (BPM) initiatives. CPW was awarded overall winner in the ‘Leveraging BPM Technology’ category, in relation to their operational excellence program which has been rolled-out to Best Buy Europe Group operating divisions including: The Carphone Warehouse Ltd, Best Buy, and Geek Squad.

CPW used Nimbus Control (which they internally branded as "How2"), to deploy 1,800 processes in eight months to 7,000 employees. With the implementation of How2, CPW was able to raise customer satisfaction by up to 25 percent within 90 days of deployment. Based on this success Best Buy Europe Group extended the approach across their entire operation with an initiative they called "HOW2 - Operational Excellence". A Center of Excellence of around twenty five employees recruited from relevant departments now offer business process improvement services not just to retail, but to back office functions and call centers as well.

Nigel Kilpatrick, senior vice president of Nimbus, states, "Nimbus is thrilled to see Carphone Warehouse, one of our flagship customers win such a prestigious award for their implementation of Nimbus Control. The Gartner BPM Excellence Award recognizes world-class BPM programs and projects that have demonstrated excellence and compelling results."

Chris Jones, head of Business Operations at Carphone Warehouse, said "We are delighted to receive this award that recognises the hard work of all colleagues associated with our How2 Operational Excellence initiative. Despite testing economic conditions we have recently reported our best year’s results to date. In a saturated market for mobile phones, improving customer service and efficiency are the keys to retaining customers and driving a profitable business. Put simply it’s about helping the right people do the right things at the right time. How2 powered by Nimbus Control is absolutely central to that mission."

All winners will be showcased at the Gartner BPM Summit on April 27-29 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, Maryland. Steve Schofield, Operational Excellence Leader at CPW, will be interviewed by Gartner analysts at a winner’s round table briefing.
